KANTO’ è un ristorante giapponese situato a Colico, sul Lago di Como, all’interno di un palazzo classico dallo strano e leggero sapore orientale.

Questa è la prima volta che trovo ad immaginare un ristorante giapponese, mi ha sempre affascinato la loro cultura e il loro stile quindi volevo trovare il giusto modo per dargli un aspetto forte e rispettoso della loro filosofia.

Volevo un progetto ordinato, simmetrico, rigoroso ma allo stesso tempo con dei dettagli importanti come sono i loro piatti che ho avuto modo di vedere e provare.

Il palazzo si prestava molto per questo progetto; una pianta regolare che ho avvolto in una gabbia scenografica perimetrale in tubi di ferro a cui sono state aggiunte delle mensole luminose con appoggiate delle piante verdi cascanti e vari oggetti in stile orientale, il tutto amplificato dai rivestimenti a specchio delle pareti che danno ancor più profondità e ampiezza al ristorante.

Il ristorante è suddiviso su due livelli. In entrambi gli spazi delle sale ruotano attorno ad un nucleo centrale.

A piano terra questo è il blocco bar e preparazione sushi completamente a vista che si trova alle spalle della postazione accoglienza.

Al primo piano invece il banco bar e sushi si trovano sulla parete di fondo mentre il blocco centrale è costituito da una una zona privè rialzata schermata sempre dalla gabbia perimetrale.

Per accedere al piano superiore si può usare l’ascensore interno oppure tramite le scale che sono arricchite perimetralmente da un tendaggio a rete a tutta altezza che racchiude tutto il vano alto oltre 10 ml. Mentre una carta da parati riveste il blocco dell’ascensore al centro.

Di effetto sono i servizi del primo piano per gli ospiti, dove si ripete il concetto di simmetria del progetto, e dove il disimpegno dei quattro wc è occupato centralmente da un doppio lavabo ad isola in metallo nero sovrastato da una specchiera a quattro lati sospesa.

KANTO ‘is a Japanese restaurant located in Colico, on Lake Como, inside a classic building with a strange and light oriental flavor.
This is the first time I have imagined a Japanese restaurant, I have always been fascinated to their culture and their style so I wanted to find the right way to give it a strong and respectful of their philosophy.
I wanted a project that was ordered, symmetrical, rigorous but at the same time with important details as are their dishes that I got to see and try.
The building lent itself to this project; a regular plant that I wrapped in a scenic perimeter cage in iron tubes to which were added bright shelves with resting of the sagging green plants and various objects in oriental style, all amplified by the mirror coatings of the walls that give even more depth and breadth at the restaurant.

The restaurant is split over two levels. In both the spaces of the rooms revolve around a central nucleus.
On the ground floor this is the bar block and fully visible sushi preparation located behind the reception area.
On the first floor, instead, the bar and sushi stand are on the back wall while the central block consists of a raised private area always shielded from the perimeter cage.

To access the upper floor you can use the internal lift or the stairs that are enriched on the perimeter by a full-height mesh curtain that encloses the whole compartment over 10 ml. While a wallpaper covers the lift block in the middle.

Particular are the bathrooms on the first floor for guests. Where the concept of symmetry of the project is repeated, and where the dressing of the four w.cs is occupied centrally by a double island sink in black metal surmounted by a hanging four-sided mirror.
